Respect law-abiding shooters and the outdoors

Treat responsible firearm owners as citizens, not suspects.

Since 31 March 2025, the Firearms Act 2024 has limited most individual licence holders to 10 firearms, or 5 on a recreational hunting licence. Owners must also pass a health examination by a GP every five years, or every year from age 80.

These rules mainly burden farmers, hunters and sporting shooters who have done nothing wrong. They do little about criminals, who never apply for a licence.

A better way targets criminals, not law-abiding West Australians enjoying the outdoors.

What we’d do

  • Oppose any gun buyback.
  • Repeal the arbitrary limits on the number of firearms.
  • Review the health-examination regime.
  • Protect access for hunting, fishing and four-wheel driving.
